In a glittering and star-studded night, the 54th Filmfare awards have been announced and the talents of Bollywood were awarded for their hard work and success. Held at the Yashraj Studios in suburban Mumbai and hosted by two newbie of the industry, Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan, the event turned out to be fresh and more entertaining. As the nominees walked the red carpet donned in designer clothes, tension and excitement brewed on their face. But when the black lady was handed over to the winners, tension went off and they looked confident and happy.

Performances by Svelte Katrina Kaif from her hits Singh is King and Yuvraaj, charming Shahid Kapur from Jab we met, Sexy Bipasha Basu and suave Neil Nitin Mukesh from Aa Dekhen Zara and Abhishek Bachchan from title track of Delhi 6 set the stage on fire.

The Videocon IIFA Weekend includes the high-profile FICCI IIFA Global Business Forum, the IIFA Fashion Extravaganza, world premieres of Indian films and the climax of the Weekend, the spectacular IDEA IIFA Awards. The IDEA IIFA Awards is the biggest South Asian media event and is considered among the most-watched global annual events.

Twenty One top women achievers from varied fields were felicitated at the 8th Kelvinator GR8! FLO Women Awards 2009, held at ITC Grand Maratha on 24th February 2009.

The evening was full of zest as the awards saw the presence of lots of celebrities who were there to encourage every woman who had excelled in their respective fields. The celebrities that lightened the evening were Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone, Asin, Harman Baweja, Alka Yagnik, Sunidhi Chauhan, Yukta Mookhey, Zeenat Aman and Prem Chopra. The evening saw a sizzling dance act by Celina Jaitley who paid a tribute to yesteryear Zeenat Aman. There were other performances by television stars like Kushal Punjabi, Barkha Bisht, Gaurav Chopra and Mauni Roy. Stand up comedy act was done by Purbi Joshi and Ali Asgar while the show was anchored by Roshni Chopra and Manish Paul.

Anu Rajan, Editor Gr8! Magazine and founder of the Gr8! Women Awards says, “this is the eight year in a row that we have felicitated women achievers in various fields for their contribution to their respective professions and society as a whole.”

The stage is set, the guests are in and the awards are ready to be presented. The gala event began with the two most popular faces on television, the very talented on-screen sisters from Bidaai–Sadhana (Sara Khan) and Ragini (Parul Chauhan). Though first time hosts, they held the audiences attention with their innocence and childlike enthusiasm of being on the STAR Parivaar platform. 

The opening act had some popular families from  spa 2009 dancing on the title track of the respective shows i.e. Bidaai, YRKKH, Hamari Devrani, Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, Kis Des Mein Hai Mera Dil and Mitwaa… Phool Kamal Ke.

Up next is the performance on the melodious number Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, by the debutants Shaurya (Saurabh Pandey) and Suhani (Sriti Jha) who relived the era of 60’s, while the lovely on-screen pair Prem (Harshad Chopda) and Heer (Aditi Gupta) matched the dance steps of 70’s and our cute little Bebo (Shivshakti) with her on screen sweetheart Amrit (Anuj Sachdev) had the audience engrossed enacting the moves of Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore. Adding to the fun were Birju (Mohit) & Bela (Tanvi’s) of Mitwaa…Phool Kamal Ke as they performed in the true style of Rishi Kapoor & Neetu Singh.

Apart from the stupendous performances, all the young & talented set of actors like Akshara, Naitik, Bebo etc… were vying for trophy. Who takes the trophy?
